Sewing instructions
General steps to sew this garment. Seam allowance is 1 cm (3/8") unless stated otherwise.
Supplies
- French terry or sweatshirt fleece
- Ribbing for cuffs and neckline
- Matching thread and the right needle
- Prewash and press your fabric before cutting so it will not shrink after sewing.
- Print the pattern at 100%, check the test square and cut the pieces following the cutting list. Transfer notches, darts and button marks.
- Cut with the greatest stretch running horizontally (around the body). Use pattern weights instead of pins so the knit does not distort.
- Sew knits with a serger or a stretch stitch (narrow zigzag) and a ballpoint needle.
- Hem the kangaroo pocket openings, press the edges under and topstitch it to the front before sewing the side seams.
- Join the raglan sleeves to the front and back; watch the notches (double notch = back).
- Sew the underarm and side seam in one go, matching the armhole seams.
- Sew the hood center seam (or center panel to the sides), finish the front edge and attach it to the neckline matching center back.
- Close the rib cuffs and hem band into loops, fold them in half and sew them on, stretching them to fit the garment.
