Sewing instructions

General steps to sew this garment. Seam allowance is 1 cm (3/8") unless stated otherwise.

Supplies

  • Swim elastic and swim lycra
  • Waist elastic and drawstring
  • Matching thread and the right needle
  1. Print the pattern at 100%, check the test square and cut the pieces following the cutting list. Transfer notches, darts and button marks.
  2. Cut with the greatest stretch running horizontally (around the body). Use pattern weights instead of pins so the knit does not distort.
  3. Sew the outseams, then the inseams of each leg.
  4. Put one leg inside the other, right sides together, and sew the crotch seam in one go, matching the inseams.
  5. Close the waistband into a loop, enclose the elastic and sew it to the waist while stretching.
  6. Fold up the hems (sleeves and body) and stitch with a twin needle or zigzag so they keep their stretch.
