Sewing instructions
General steps to sew this garment. Seam allowance is 1 cm (3/8") unless stated otherwise.
Supplies
- Woven fabric (cotton, linen, poplin…)
- Lining fabric
- Zipper
- Buttons
- Matching thread and the right needle
- Prewash and press your fabric before cutting so it will not shrink after sewing.
- Print the pattern at 100%, check the test square and cut the pieces following the cutting list. Transfer notches, darts and button marks.
- Make the front pockets: facing and pocket bag, topstitch the opening and baste at the side.
- Sew the back pockets (welt or patch) and any darts.
- Install the zip fly: fly facing, fly shield and J-stitch.
- Sew the outseams, then the inseams of each leg.
- Put one leg inside the other, right sides together, and sew the crotch seam in one go, matching the inseams.
- Interface the waistband, sew it to the waist, fold it to the inside and finish by hand or by stitching in the ditch.
- Make the belt loops, attach them at the waist and add the button and buttonhole on the waistband.
- Hem: double-fold to the inside, press and topstitch or blind stitch.
